2012 BMW X6 M Overview
Not only is the 2012 BMW X6 M a sports activity coupe unique and luxury-laden, but it takes power and performance to previously unseen levels.
Not much has changed for the BMW X6 M in 2012 except for the newly standard USB/iPod adaptor. There are several types of X6 models: regular, performance-oriented M and ActiveHybrid, which gets a boost in fuel efficiency while maintaining excellent power. The X6 M has a monstrous 555-horsepower, 4.4-liter, 32-valve M TwinPower Turbo V-8 that generates 500 pounds-feet of torque getting the X6 M from zero-to-60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds. Fuel economy ratings are not exceptional by any means at 12 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway.
The 2012 BMW X6 M is not just a powerhouse, but a quick and responsive handling vehicle that incorporates a six-speed transmission with M-tuned Drive, Sport and Manual modes, which customize driving impressions based on your mood. BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive proactively shifts torque rearward when needed and a display shows the driver how the power is being distributed.
Because it falls into the M family, the X6 M has large air intakes in the front bumper that cool the larger discs and calipers, water-cooled turbo intercoolers and engine. Other M exterior features include M quad tailpipes, xenon adaptive headlights with auto-leveling, retractable, high-intensity headlight washers, rear diffuser, front fender vents and double spoke 20-inch alloy wheels.
The 2012 BMW X6 M seats four with an optional fifth seat and has 59.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. Fourteen-way power front seats, three-stage heated front seats, an Ambience Lighting package, M door sills and driver’s footrest, push button start/stop, two-way power glass moonroof, automatic front climate control with separate left/right temperature settings, power tailgate opening and closing, iDrive system, LED illuminated instrumentation and a DVD-based navigation system with Voice Command and real time traffic updates are standard. A 600-watt, 16-speaker sound system with two subwoofers and a digital nine-channel amplifier is also standard.
To keep you and your family safe, the 2012 BMW X6 M has a plethora of high-tech safety features such as: BMW Assist, adaptive brake lights, active head restraints, rollover sensor with seat belt pretensioners, automatic headlight control, Dynamic Cruise Control, rear view camera with Top View, head-up display, a side-view camera and a host of airbags.
