2010 BMW M3 Overview
While it is rare to find the right balance of sports-car performance and everyday versatility, the 2010 BMW M3 succeeds in providing both to today’s luxury driver..

Under that muscular hood is a 414-horsepower, 4.0-liter V-8. This phenomenal engine smashes through that coveted 100 horsepower-per-liter mark and leaves you hanging on for dear life. Variable camshaft control and eight throttle valves ensure optimal airflow to the combustion chambers, while the spark plugs do double-duty to sense and help prevent bad combustion.

Power is delivered through a precise six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For green-thinking, intelligent alternator control benefits from regenerative braking so the battery is charged for free, thus improving fuel economy. The M3 achieves 13-14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. Fuel economy is better than the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, and a bit behind the Lexus IS-F.

Available in sedan, coupe and retractable-hardtop convertible, this rear-wheel drive machine features the optional Electronic Damper Control system which quickly adjusts damping rates to suit road conditions. With EDC, the driver selects between Normal, Sport and Comfort modes to determine the relative ride stiffness. A carbon-fiber roof helps keep the weight down for fun driving and enhanced fuel economy.

Leather and cloth upholstery join dual zone climate control and a ten-speaker stereo to create an enjoyable interior space. The Cold Weather Package includes heated front seats, and the Premium Package upgrades the interior with wood, brushed aluminum or carbon leather trim pieces. Sirius Satellite Radio, an 825-watt, 16-speaker stereo upgrade and a navigation system with traffic updates are options that take the M3 to the next level. Available technologies allow your BMW to communicate its service needs to your dealer and – at the push of a button – to contact a help center in the event of a crash.

Stopping power is handled by 14.2-inch diameter front and 13.8-inch rear cast iron brake rotors riding on floating aluminum hubs. The floating feature reduces rotor warping for greater component durability and performance. Dynamic Stability Control keeps the M3 composed in low-grip situations, as does the antilock brake system. Adaptive headlights pivot with the wheels, to improve visibility into the turn. A helping of airbags and a stiff structure with good crumple zones helps the 2010 BMW M3 achieve Four- and Five-Star impact ratings from NHTSA.

One of the most athletic sports cars on the road today, with nearly unsurpassed acceleration and handling, the 2010 BMW M3 will make enthusiasts’ mouths water and everyday drivers excited to see what all the hubbub is about.
