2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 750 Overview
For sophisticated V-8 power without the drag on fuel economy, the all-new 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 750 sedan is out of this world.
Available in two hybrid trims: 750i and 750Li (extended wheel base), the famed BMW 7 Series has something for everyone. A 400-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 is paired to an electric motor and a 120-volt lithium-ion battery for a total of 445 horsepower and 480 pounds-feet of torque. The ActiveHybrid 750 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Hybrid Start/Stop function and Automatic and Manual sift modes. Like most hybrids, the 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 7 incorporates regenerative braking, which captures the energy that would normally be lost during the act of slowing.
BMW says that the ActiveHybrid 750 receives between 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which represents a nice improvement over the gas-only 750. Xenon adaptive headlights with dynamic auto-leveling, cornering lights, power folding and heated side mirrors, a power sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, foglights, and 19-inch wheels all come standard, while 20-inch light alloy wheels are optional.
Inside, the 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 750 is much like the gas-only 750 and is adorned in leather upholstery and features 20-way power/heated front seats with a driver memory function. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, Bluetooth® connectivity, and four-zone automatic climate control add to the luxury vehicle’s ambiance. Hardware includes a navigation system with voice activation and BMW’s iDrive, which utilizes an LCD screen and console-mounted dial to control audio, climate, and communication functions. Smartphone integration, side and top view cameras, and iPod/USB ports are optional. An ActiveHybrid display that shows the Electric Drive mode in the instrument cluster helps let you know how efficiently you are driving. An array of options on ActiveHybrid 750Li models includes Comfort seats with massage and ventilation features and a rear entertainment system with dual screens in headrests.
Safety is taken seriously with the 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 750. A driver and passenger front airbag restraint system with dual-stage deployment, first-and second-row side curtain airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags, knee airbags, and an electronic stability system all comes standard. A lane departure warning system, a blind-spot detection system, and night vision with pedestrian detection are just a few of the many high-tech safety features.
Luxury and efficiency collide in a good way in the sophisticated and futuristic 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid 750.
