2012 BMW 760 Overview
All of the advances in technology and all of the luxuries that a high-end sedan can possibly attain are present in the über-powerful and spacious 2012 BMW 760Li.
The BMW 760Li received only a few minor changes for 2012. The important aspects are these: the 760Li has all of the optional features of lesser models and more power than Zeus’ lightning bolts. An astounding 535-horsepower, 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 generates an other-worldly 550 pounds-feet of torque, which means that the 760 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds. Power is sent through the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission for a smooth and responsive ride. Speaking of ride, the 760 has three customized modes: NORMAL, SPORT and SPORT+, which match road conditions for a more engaging ride with more controlled handling. Fuel economy estimates are 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. Competition in the high-end luxury segment includes the Audi A8, Jaguar XH and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
The BMW Apps feature integrates with the state-of-the-art ConnectedDrive system including Mobile Office. Altogether, it displays smartphone emails and text messages on the iDrive screen when stationary and reads them to you while driving. The updated iDrive system controls radio, CD, telephone and navigation settings via a central knob and displays the information on giant 10.2-inch high-resolution monitor.
The ‘Li’ denotes that the 760 is an extended-length version making it comfortable for families. Xenon adaptive headlights can see around corners, while a two-way moonroof lets the sun shine in the front and backseats. Try to find 20-way power front seats as standard equipment on another luxury sedan. Heated, ventilated and massaging front seats are standard and adorned with Nappa Leather upholstery, and burled walnut wood trim. Four-zone climate control, power trunk lid with push-button close, cruise control, automatic high beams, ambient lighting, head-up display, side- and top-view cameras, hard drive-based navigation system with voice command, iPod/USB adapter, 12 GB hard drive and a 600-watt, 16-speaker sound system are all standard. An M Sport Package adds 20-inch alloy double-spoke wheels, increased speed limiter and aerodynamic kit.
High-tech safety comes standard in the 2012 BMW 760Li in the form of Active Blind Spot Detection, active head restraints, active knee protection, front and rear head protection system, crash sensor that activates battery safety terminal disconnect and Lane Departure Warning.
