2011 BMW 760 Overview
Featuring incredible power, acres of space, and all of the sophisticated bells and whistles one could hope for, the 2011 BMW 760 is tough to beat.
The 2011 BMW 7 Series is comprised of 740, 750, and 760 models. The 760 is only available in “Li” guise, which means that it carries the extended wheelbase that adds 5.5 inches of room over a normal 7 series, giving the driver and occupants a more comfortable ride. The 740 and 750 are also available in Li trims. The 760 doesn’t just provide a spacious interior – when it comes to engine size, it also sits atop the 7 Series food chain. A massive 535-horsepower, 6.0-liter V-12 engine coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission with auto-manual shift powers the 760. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings of 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway are decent considering the engine’s displacement and power.
The 760 faces competition from the Audi A8, Jaguar XJ and Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the full-size luxury sedan segment. When it comes to style, much like the rest of the 7 series the 760 is subdued rather than loud, but still features enough styling cues that it doesn’t look tame. The sculpted hood, front fenders, doors, and roof are made from aluminum and help the 760 to cut weight which improves handling, power-to-weight ratio, and fuel economy. The 760 comes standard atop 19-inch alloy wheels with run-flat performance tires, and other standard exterior features include xenon adaptive headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, power heated side-view mirrors, and fog lights.
The 2011 760 also contains one of the plushest, must luxurious interiors you’ll find on the road today. Inside, you’ll find luxury features like 20-way power/heated front seats, sunroof, leather at every corner, and four-zone climate control. The 760 can also be outfitted with the latest car technology like Bluetooth® connectivity, HD radio, and a navigation system with voice activation. BMW’s iDrive system helps you to control everything in the 760, breaking down climate, audio, and communications functions onto one LCD screen. Earlier versions of the system were cumbersome, but it has been updated to be more intuitive and easy to use. Further options include comfort seats with massage and ventilation and a rear entertainment system that places screens in the back of the front headrests.
Safety features abound on the 2011 760. A front airbag restraint system with dual-stage deployment, first-and second-row side curtain airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags, knee airbags, and an electronic stability system all come standard. Also standard on the 760 are a lane departure warning system and a blind-spot detection system, which warns you when other vehicles are in your blind spot. The 2011 760 also features a Head-up Display so you can check vital information without taking your eyes off of the road. Night vision with pedestrian detection helps detect people and animals using infrared technology and is optional.
The 2011 BMW 760 represents the pinnacle of horsepower, comfort, safety, and high-tech gadgetry from the legendary German automaker.
