Aggressive styling, active safety features, and a dynamic driving spirit make the 2009 BMW 650 a scintillating luxury sports car. Available as the 650 coupe or convertible, either model offers heart-pounding performance from a 4.8-liter, 360-horsepower V-8 engine. Three six-speed transmissions are available, from a pure manual transmission for true enthusiasts to an SMG gearbox that allows manumatic shifting. The 650 convertible offers open air thrills with the touch of a button and includes a Rollover Protection System. A new Sport Package adds a redesigned hood and a revised exhaust system with chrome tailpipes and new paint and interior colors for all trims are new for 2009. The 650 receives 14-15 mpg in the city and 21-23 mpg on the highway and competes with the Jaguar XK, Mercedes-Benz SL and Porsche 911. Advanced technology features include Night Vision that uses an infrared camera to display an image of potential road hazards on the navigation monitor. The standard Logic7 audio system uses 13 speakers, an auxiliary audio input for your iPod®, MP3 playback, and an optional 6-disc CD changer for hours of concert-like sound quality. The standard navigation system features voice feedback and command, detailed maps and directions, and Real Time Traffic to help guide you through your journeys. The iDrive controller operates your iPod, radio tuner and CD player, and Sirius Satellite Radio, Bluetooth connectivity and HD Radio are all available. Safety features include Active Roll Stabilization that improves the vehicle’s suspension geometry and reduces body roll while cornering. Dynamic Stability Control combines with All-Season Traction Control to improve traction and control on slippery, rough, or sandy surfaces. Dual front airbags, front-seat side impact airbags, and dual front knee airbags protect passengers in a collision. Standard adaptive brake lights illuminate brighter as brake force is increased to help other drivers anticipate your impending stop. Standard Xenon Adaptive Headlight with dynamic auto-leveling offer superior nighttime visibility and turn in the direction of a curve to help you see what’s around a corner. Park Distance Control comes standard, using sonar to help you parallel park by emitting a beep that increases with speed as you get closer to another vehicle. The graceful lines and insane power of a 2009 BMW 650 coupe or convertible are just as inspiring as the thrill of driving one.
