2010 BMW 550 Overview
Introduced to the U.S. in 1972, the 2010 version of the BMW 550i remains the same as the previous model and successfully combines performance, comfort and luxury.

The 2010 BMW 550i is the luxury manufacturer’s premium midsize sport sedan/wagon in BMW’s 5 Series, which also includes the entry-level 528i and midlevel 535i. As the next step up in size from the 3 Series, the 550i is available in either rear- or all-wheel-drive (xDrive) configurations and powered by a massive 360-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8 coupled to a six-speed automatic with auto-manual shift or six-speed manual transmission. The 2010 BMW 550 is EPA rated at 15 mpg in the city and 22-23 mpg on the highway.

The 2010 BMW 550i remains unscathed from the previous model year and faces competition from Audi A6, Lexus GS and Acura RL in the luxury sedan segment. The 550i features an elongated front end, LED turn signals, rain-sensing windshield wipers and adaptive headlights that turn in the direction you turn the steering wheel. A Sport Package includes 19-inch alloy wheels and tires, 20-way power front seats and active roll stabilization to prevent potential rollovers and a night vision system uses an infrared camera to see up to 328 yards ahead.

Inside, the 2010 BMW 550i’s spacious cabin is adorned in faux leather, but leather trim is always available. Standard features include a sunroof, power front seats with driver memory, automatic climate control, push-button start, 13-speaker audio system with six-disc changer, MP3 auxiliary jack, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel and increased storage capacity in the center console.

Additional comfort and convenience amenities include a navigation system with iDrive, which utilizes an LCD screen and console-mounted dial to control audio, climate, navigation and communication functions. Heated front and rear seats, HD radio and windshield display that projects your speed and course are also offered.

A full complement of standard safety technologies, including antilock brakes, electronic stability control, front, side-impact and side curtain airbags, hill start assist and hill descent control, has helped the 2010 BMW 550i earn five stars for front passenger protection and front and rear side protection in government crash tests. Additional safety features include a lane-departure warning system that alerts you if your car starts to veer from its lane and active cruise control, which helps to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.

The premium 2010 BMW 550i sport sedan/wagon is equipped with a powerful V-8 engine and packed with modern technology for added luxury and convenience.
