Under the Hood
The 535d features a turbo-diesel 255-HP, 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. All trims come rear-wheel drive, but have the option for all-wheel drive. Additional engine technology include Adaptive Drive system includes active roll stabilization, adaptive suspension and customizable settings for the drivetrain and suspension. Active Steering varies the steering ratio to render easier turning at low speeds and stable handling at high speeds optional and adaptive cruise control includes full stop-and-go capabilities to manage heavy traffic also optional.

Safety Features
The 5-series features side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, and active front head restraints for passenger protection. Antilock brakes and electronic stability system come standard. Blind spot monitoring system, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with collision warning system all optional.
