2009 BMW 535 Overview
A true overachiever, it's available as the rear-wheel drive 535i or all-wheel drive 535i xDrive sedans, or the flexible 535xi Sports Wagon. All models share a 3.0-liter, 300-horsepower twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that gets sublime, effortless acceleration. Purists will choose the standard six-speed manual transmission for crisp shifting, whle the six-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters for fingertip shifting is optional. The functional lower air intake imparts an aggressive style to the front grille. xDrive all-wheel drive delivers tenacious grip and optimum traction in all road conditions. The 535i gets 16-17 MPG in the city and 23-26 MPG on the highway and competes with the Jaguar XF, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Cadillac CTS. The Night Vision system uses an infrared camera to see up to 328 yards ahead of the vehicle, and display images in the navigation monitor. The optional on-board navigation system uses global positioning to guide you to your destination and features real-time traffic information to help you avoid delays. The xDrive wagon features a panoramic sunroof, fold-down rear seats and a power liftgate in addition to 58 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume. The amazing Logic7 audio system features an optional 6-disc CD changer, digital sound processing, and 13 speakers to create acoustic realism. The iDrive system features an on-board computer and controller, with six programmable memory buttons to fine-tune settings for the climate control, audio and navigation systems, and communication with BMW Assist. Safety highlights include adaptive brake lights that become larger and brighter to correspond with brake force, reducing the risk of a collision. Active Cruise Control uses a pre-set distance and radar measurements to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. Dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, and the Head Protection System protect front and rear seat passengers in a collision. Standard Dynamic Stability Control and Traction control provide additional directional stability and minimize wheel spin during takeoffs. Whether sedan or sports wagon, the 2009 BMW 535 is a very brisk performer, with acceleration to match its high level of refinement and luxury. |
