2012 BMW 528 Overview
With an impressive blend of technology, style, efficiency and power, the refined 2012 BMW 528 midsize sedan is the total package.
With a new four-cylinder engine that replaces a V-6, BMW proves that there is proof in addition by subtraction. A 240-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder generates 260 pounds-feet of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. An automatic start/stop function shuts down the engine during stops, leading to 23 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The 528 sends power through the rear wheels, while BMW’s optional all-wheel-drive, xDrive feature adds more grip when you need it. For enhanced handling and performance, Adaptive Drive with Active Roll Stabilization and an adaptive suspension with customizable drivetrain settings make your driving experience come alive. Competition to the 528 includes the Audi A6, Infiniti M and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
It’s no secret that BMW’s are known for style and comfort and that’s why the 528 gained three inches last year for an overall sleeker look and spacious cabin. Seventeen-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors and a power sunroof are just a few of the standard options, while adaptive xenon headlights, Adaptive Brake Lights and 18- and 19-inch rims are optional.
Advances in technology are a yearly occurrence with BMW, and the 2012 528 is no exception. The stat-of-the-art ConnectedDrive system includes Mobile Office, which displays smartphone emails and text messages on the iDrive screen when stationary and reads them to you while driving. Dark wood trim, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s and front passenger’s seats, micro-filter ventilation system, two-way power moonroof, ambience lighting, iPod/USB adapter and 10-speaker audio system are just some of the standard features. A power rear sunshade, multi-contour seats, heated front seats, ceramic controls, head-up display, and rear-seat entertainment system are optional. The optional navigation system is displayed on a giant 10.2-inch high-resolution monitor. Cupholders are now located in the center console instead of flipping out from the dashboard.
It’s not just the audio and entertainment systems that feature cutting-edge technology, but safety too. The 2012 BMW 528 comes equipped with side curtain airbags, side-impact airbags for the front seats, active front head restraints and an electronic stability system as standard equipment. A rear-view camera, Park Distance Control, Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection, side and top view cameras and a blind spot warning system are all optional.
Drive efficiently in the luxuriously high-tech 2012 BMW 528 sedan.
