2012 BMW 328 Overview
The popular BMW 3 Series and its entry-level model, the 2012 BMW 328 is the perfect blend of luxury, performance and price.
The 2012 BMW 3 Series sedan receives a full redesign including updated styling and more efficient and power engines/transmissions.
Covering a lot of ground, the 2012 BMW 328 includes the following models/styles: sedan, wagon, coupe and convertible. Competition includes the Infiniti G and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The 328 sedan has a new 240-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 260 pounds-feet of torque. It is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic. The 328 sends power through the rear wheels for added traction, while BMW’s Driving Dynamics Control features eco pro, comfort and sport settings for customized driving impressions. The new engine is extremely fuel-efficient with 23-24 mpg in the city and 34-36 mpg on the highway.
The BMW coupe, convertible and wagon models house a less-powerful 230-horsepower, 3.0-liter inline-6 that generates 200 pounds-feet of torque. It is paired with either a standard six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. Both the coupe and wagon can be had in all-wheel-drive, xDrive versions for improved handling in any condition. Fuel economy for the coupe/convertible and wagon receive 17-18/25-28 mpg, which isn’t too impressive considering they receive less power than the sedan.
BMW went ahead and redesigned the 2012 sedan to match your tastes, based on three concepts: Sport, Modern and Luxury. The Sport Line showcases agility and power and can be equipped with a sport suspension, increased top speed limiter, 19-inch alloy wheels and brushed aluminum trim, while the Modern Line incorporates a clean and natural look with sports leather steering wheel, highlight trim finishers pearl gloss chrome and Anthracite wood trim. The Luxury Line is all about sophistication for the most discerning tastes. The iDrive system with 6.5-inch color flat-screen display manages various settings. A heated steering wheel, moonroof, heated front seats, xenon headlights and rear-view camera are optional.
When it comes to safety, the 2012 3 Series is loaded. Dynamic Stability Control, anti-lock brakes, an impact sensor, suite of airbags, run-flat tires and speed limit information, which detects local speed limit signs and shows the posted speed limit in the instrument cluster and head-up display keep your tires and eyes on the road. Surround View displays video images of a 360-degree view of your car.
Efficiency, luxury and world-class safety are just some of the attributes of the redesigned 2012 BMW 328.
