2016 Audi TTS Overview

Audi updated its TT and TTS sports cars for the European market for model-year 2015, and the cars will hit U.S. shores as model-year 2016 coupes and convertibles. The third-generation TT is all angles up front with a large hexagonal grille, sharp hood contours and sleek, slit-like LED headlights.

TT coupes and roadsters will again use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but horsepower is up slightly for 2016 to 220 hp from 211 hp; in the sporty TTS model, the 2.0-liter will make 292 hp, up from 265. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic is again the sole transmission; no word on if Europe’s diesel version or manual-transmission model will be available in the U.S. The TT will be available as coupe and roadster; the TTS will be available as a coupe only.

Inside, a customizable digital instrument cluster replaces traditional gauges. Audi calls the setup a "virtual cockpit" and says the 3-D display combines the functions of a central MMI monitor with a conventional instrument cluster in one display. The Audi connect connected car system is also updated this year with picture navigation; read-aloud news headlines, Facebook and Twitter alerts; access to more than 7,000 Web radio stations; and personalized RSS news feeds; it also includes an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot.
