2012 Audi TTS Overview (See Available Styles)

The 2012 Audi TTS Coupe and Roadster, the more powerful, sports-tuned versions of the Audi TT, retain the sleek design of the TT but up the ante with a more aggressive engine and sportier standard features.

The same engine from the TT powers the TTS, but gains an additional 54 horses, with the 265-horsepower, 2.0-liter, turbocharged, inline four-cylinder engine, capable of 258 pounds/feet of torque, a maximum speed of 155 mph, and a launch time from zero to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The TTS employs an S model turbocharger with an enlarged turbine wheel, spiral compressor inlet and compressor wheel for added power. The six-speed dual clutch automated manual transmission drives the Quattro all-wheel drive, and can switch to full manual control using the center console shift lever or steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The sport-tuned suspension is equipped with electromagnetic adaptive controls, giving the driver full control over handling by switching between Normal and Sport modes.

Increased engine power does not translate into decreased fuel economy for the TTS, with an EPA fuel economy rating of 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

The interior of the TTS features upgraded Silk Nappa leather upholstered sport seats with prominent side bolsters and extendable thigh support as standard amenities. The leather-wrapped, multifunction sport steering wheel includes paddle shifters, Bluetooth and audio controls, and is trimmed in red stitching to reflect the TTS sport design. An available Baseball Optic Leather Package employs a woven stitch to the seating surfaces in madras brown leather for an added design element. Both the Coupe and Roadster include ten-way power driver and front passenger seats with four-way power lumbar support, and heated front seating is available. The Coupe seats two additional passengers in 50/50-split folding rear seat; the Roadster seats two. Electronic cruise control and manual tilt and telescopic steering column are included on all models. The audio system includes Sirius Satellite Radio and an auxiliary input jack. A premium Bose sound system, six-CD changer, iPod cable, and navigation with real-time traffic and full-color 6.5-inch LCD screen are available.

The TTS shares the same aerodynamic body style as the Audi TT, with the low-slung fastback roof and smooth, rounded nose, but embodies a sportier “S” style with S model single frame grille with aluminum optic double-blade crossbars, unique front and rear bumpers, and TTS badging throughout. The rear diffuser is platinum gray, and the exhaust system sports chrome, quad tailpipes. Nineteen-inch five-tri-spoke alloy wheels reveal black TTS brake calipers, and the front calipers feature TTS badging. The Xenon headlights feature 24 LED daytime running lights to draw upon Audi’s track record at the 24 hours of Le Mans. The aluminum rear spoiler automatically extends and retracts to improve vehicle downforce at top speeds, and includes a manual override for driver control. The Roadster’s power folding soft top includes a power operated wind deflector, opens and closes at the touch of a button and can be operated at speeds up to 31 mph.

The TTS is equipped with driver and front passenger head and knee airbags, side-impact and side curtain airbags. Both Coupe and Roadster are designed with crumple zones and reinforced steel doors with aluminum impact beams, and the Roaster is equipped with aluminum-trimmed rollbars. Front and rear ventilated disc brakes, electronic stability and traction control systems are included for all models, and an acoustic parking system is available for the higher trim level.

For TT aficionados looking for the ultimate in performance, the Audi TT RS limited edition Coupe is available with a 360-horsepower, 2.5-liter turbocharged, inline five-cylinder engine that puts out 343 pounds/feet of torque and boasts a zero to 60 mph speed of 4.1 seconds. The TT RS comes with a six-speed manual transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive, and includes high-performance brakes and sport suspension.

The 2012 Audi TTS embodies perfection in visual design and offers a thrilling driving experience and a luxurious interior cabin.
