2012 Audi TT RS Overview
First and foremost, the 2012 Audi TT RS is a performance car that is quick as it is visually stunning.
After a brief hiatus, the 2012 TT RS is back in the States and if you blink, you just might miss it. There’s no denying that the TT RS is a burner, especially with its turbocharged 360-horsepower, 2.5-liter inline-five-cylinder engine. That engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and generates an astounding 343 pounds-feet of torque. All of that torque propels the Audi TT RS from zero to 60 mph in a miniscule 4.1 seconds and tops out at 174 mph. Because of its light frame, the TT RS receives 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is not bad considering all of the power it generates.
A high-performance coupe must handle extremely well, and the 2012 Audi TT RS is no exception. The TT RS is 10 millimeters closer to the ground, providing for a lower center of gravity. Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive and magnetic ride system with Sport mode, which opens flaps in the exhaust system for a drag-racing-like noise are as serious about driving as you are. We mentioned the TT RS’s lightweight design earlier, but the exclusive Audi Space Frame (ASF) is not just 48 percent lighter than the conventional steel frame, but stronger and stiffer.
There is no shortage of exterior style when gazing upon the 2012 Audi TT RS. A power-retractable spoiler is as fun as it looks, while 19-inch aluminum wheels, large front air inlets, LED daytime running lights and black-gloss diamond pattern grille give an inspired impression. If you choose a red or black TT RS you can get nineteen-inch gloss-black wheels with red matte accents.
A world of luxury awaits once you step foot inside the TT RS. Silk Nappa leather sport seats, heated front seats, brushed aluminum inlays and 10-way power driver and front passenger seats adorn the interior. A Bose sound system with 12 speakers, Audi music interface with iPod integration, Bluetooth connectivity and auxiliary input jack are available.
In terms of safety, the 2012 Audi TT RS is good to go. Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, front knee airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags with head extensions, an electronic stability system and rear parking sensors are more than capable of keeping you safe.
The road is your playground and the 2012 Audi TT RS is your favorite toy.
