2014 Audi A8 Overview (See Available Styles)

Vehicle Overview
The A8, Audi's full-size flagship sedan, competes with the BMW 7 Series and Jaguar XJ in a segment dominated by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. All-wheel drive is standard, and the A8 is offered in regular-wheelbase and extended-length L form.

New for 2014

The A8's engine choices expand with the addition of a turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 240 hp and gets an EPA-estimated 24/36 mpg city/highway. It is available only in the long-wheelbase L body style. Power door closers, keyless access with push-button start and a backup camera are among the new standard features for regular-wheelbase models.

The A8 features standard 19-inch wheels, with 20-inch wheels available, checkmark-shaped LED daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, bi-xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights; available full-LED headlights, headlight washers, and power glass sunroof.

The Audi A8 seats four or five people depending on the rear-seat configuration with leather upholstery. The front seats are heated with ventilated seats available. Aside from comfort, the A8 features a navigation system with Google Earth and touch-pad that recognizes handwriting, dual-zone automatic air conditioning; available rear air-conditioning controls, and shift-by-wire gear selector. Heated Steering wheel and Bang & Olufsen premium stereo available.

Under the Hood
The standard A8 is powered by a massive 333-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine, with a 240-hp, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter V-6 option available as well as a 420-hp, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with cylinder-deactivation technology or 500-hp, 6.3-liter 12-cylinder engine available. Additionally, the Quattro all-wheel drive has a 40/60 torque split (front/rear), which gives the car more of a rear-wheel-drive feel. Rear sport differential available.

Safety Features

The A8 comes standard with front and rear side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags, and knee airbags. All-disc antilock brakes and electronic stability system with traction control come standard as well. Additional safety features include blind spot warning system, lane departure warning, night vision with pedestrian and animal detection, adaptive cruise control with collision warning , and automatic braking for collision mitigation.
