2013 Audi A4 Overview

The new 2013 Audi A4 features impeccable build quality and advanced technology in a luxurious package that’s also a blast to drive.

The exterior of any Audi is always exquisite. With lines and creases running down the sides, hood, and trunk, the A4 is elegant and smooth. One of the defining Audi features are the headlights, which features piped LEDs that give it a menacing look, especially in the dark. The standard wheels are well-proportioned 17-inch alloys clad in all-season rubber; and optional wheels are larger, 18-inch 10-spoke alloys with summer tires. Other options include adaptive xenon headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, headlight washers, aluminum trim, and an exterior appearance pack from Audi’s S-line.

The interior of the 2013 A4 is as regal as the exterior. Leather seating is standard, as are a multifunction steering wheel, climate control, sunroof, power-adjustable seats, and audio system. Notable interior options include satellite navigation, Alcantara-trimmed sport seats, Bluetooth connectivity, premium Bang & Olufsen audio system, and iPod connectivity. Audi’s Multi Media Interface controls have been redesigned for 2013, and a new Audi Connect telematics system is available which has a 3G connection to provide information like real-time gas prices, weather, and Google Maps satellite-image overlays.

Every 2013 Audi A4 comes with the same engine: a 211-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 258 pounds-feet of torque. The A4 comes with one of three different transmission options: a CVT, an eight-speed tiptronic automatic, or a six-speed manual. In addition any A4 can be had with front-wheel drive or optional “quattro” all-wheel drive. Fuel economy tops out at 24/32 mpg city/highway with the CVT equipped, with the other two transmissions following slightly behind.

Nearly every car company could learn a thing or two from the 2013 A4’s safety engineers. The A4 received perfect “Good” safety ratings across the board from the IIHS, and subsequently received a “Top Safety Pick” award. In addition the NHTSA gave the 2013 Audi A4 a consistent 5-star rating in every category. This isn’t surprising, though, given the list of safety features in the A4: six airbags, traction control, stability control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, crumple zones, and a reinforced crash cage all come standard. In addition, rear-thorax airbags to protect the sides of rear-seat occupants are optional.
