2010 Audi A3 Overview
A unique blend of power, driving dynamics, wagon-sized interior room and compact overall dimensions help the 2010 Audi A3 stand out from the pack. A duo of engines drives the A3 ahead of the competition, starting with the award-winning 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. For those who love torque, a 140-horsepower, 2.0-liter engine pumps out 236 pound-feet of torque for brisk acceleration. Drivetrain options include a six-speed manual and a fast-shifting, six-speed dual-clutch S Tronic transmission, as well as two- and Quattro all-wheel drive systems. The A3 achieves 21-30 mpg in the city and 28-42 mpg on the highway. The stellar ratings come from the diesel engine, so the A3 destroys the Saab 9-3 SportCombi wagon and the Volvo V50 on mileage. Those who want sporty looks will appreciate the athletic S-line trim being applied to all models for 2010. The Premium and Premium Plus models feature excellent build quality and fine materials. Standard/optional features include leather seats with suede-like Alcantara inserts, wood trim, a ten-speaker stereo, six-CD changer, plug-in port for portable media devices and memory card slot for MP3 playback and xenon headlamps. The Titanium Sport Package adds sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch seven-spoke wheels and sport seats, among other treats. The available (must-have) Open Sky dual moonroofs let in the warm sunshine, while dual zone automatic climate control keeps things cool. The Cold Weather Package is highlighted by its addition of heated front seats, while the Convenience Package brings automatic wipers and a BOSE® upgrade audio system. The available Audi Navigation System features a 6.25-inch LCD screen with 3D map display and SIRIUS traffic. Three- and four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheels make guiding the A3 a great pleasure. Interior room is highlighted by more legroom than a BMW 3 Series, and 20 cubic feet of luggage space. Safety is guaranteed with the 2010 Audi A3’s robust aluminum architecture and six standard airbags, which deliver a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. NHTSA crash results are not available, but the very similar Audi A4 gets perfect Five-Star scores in all impact tests. Audi’s Electronic Stabilization Program and antilock brakes help the A3 maintain grip and avoid accidents if at all possible. Great power joins an attractive body and lots of sleek features making the 2010 Audi A3 an affordable entry-level luxury sport-wagon.
