2012 Acura ZDX Overview
If having a sedan/SUV crossover doesn’t cover enough ground for your lifestyle, the 2012 Acura ZDX coupe/sedan/SUV/wagon crossover must fit the bill.
Somewhere in-between the Honda Crosstour and the BMW X6, the ZDX remains relatively unchanged for 2012. The ZDX resembles a four-door coupe with a sloping trunk, but shares the same platform and wheelbase as Acura’s largest SUV, the MDX. Officially classified as a personal sports coupe, or crossover utility vehicle (CUV) by Acura, the ZDX is like every other Acura in that it provides tremendous value in the form of numerous standard features.
Power and crisp handling are at the ready due to a 300-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Whether you’re driving in inclement weather or you’re zipping around tight corners, the ZDX is up to the challenge. Acura’s Super Handling all-wheel-drive adjusts torque distribution to the wheels that need it most. For those who are intent on experiencing the thrill of driving can choose between Drive and Sport modes, and can use steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for sequential manual pleasure. The Advance Package is aptly named with a choice of Comfort and Sport settings, which adjust the assist level from the electronic power steering and the adaptive damping-system. Fuel efficiency ratings are modest at 16 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.
Like we mentioned earlier, the ZDX is a unique-looking coupe/wagon crossover that is bold and fresh. Xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights, power tailgate, 19-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof are high-end luxurious exterior touches. Standard interior features include: heated, leather power front seats with driver’s seat memory, a leather wrapped steering wheel and leather dash, six-CD stereo, satellite radio, USB port, Bluetooth connectivity and a backup camera. Take it to the next level with optional Milano leather upholstery, 8-inch screen with a voice-operated navigation system, ventilated front seats, solar-sensing automatic climate control, audio system with 15 GB hard drive and LED ambient lighting.
Not only is the 2012 Acura ZDX exceptionally reliable, but it’s very safe too. Side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags, antilock disc brakes, brake assist, active front head restraints and stability control with traction control are all standard. The optional Collision Mitigation Braking System warns the driver, applies the brakes and retracts the driver’s seatbelt when it detects a pending collision.
Whoever said that you had to sacrifice style for luxury has never seen the 2012 Acura ZDX.
