2011 Acura ZDX Overview
The 2011 Acura ZDX is back after its 2010 debut with the same combination of unique styling, powerful performance, and luxurious trappings that have been exciting crossover shoppers for the past year.
Let’s start under the hood. Power comes from a 300-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 that is the only engine available. Each ZDX comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s Super Handling all-wheel drive system, which can distribute up to 90% of the engine’s torque to the front wheels and 70% to the rear wheels depending on what’s needed for the current situation. The ZDX is also equipped with standard paddle shifters which give you more control and the transmission includes Drive and Sport modes, so you can choose how aggressively it should respond to driver inputs. Fuel economy rings in at 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The ZDX competes with the BMW X6 and Infiniti FX35.
Exterior styling on the 2011 ZDX is pronounced. The high greenhouse makes you think of a crossover SUV, but the roof quickly tapers down much like a coupe, shrinking the side windows. Up front, you get a dose of Acura’s design concept which is most present in the striking silver-shield grille that leads that way. On top, you get a panoramic glass roof, and other exterior features include 19-inch wheels and high-intensity-discharge headlights, all of which come standard.
Inside, the ZDX comes with seating for up to five and is awash in standard features. They include leather upholstery, power/heated front seats with driver’s seat memory, auxiliary audio input jack, USB connectivity, and Bluetooth® connectivity. Acura also offers two packages which allow you to spice up your ZDX even more: the Technology Package and the Advance Package. The Technology Package offers a host of premium tech options like a navigation system with real-time traffic information and automatic rerouting and an 8-inch screen, keyless start, a premium stereo, and it also adds upgraded Milano upholstery for good measure. The Advance Package brings with it ventilated front seats, premium tricot ceiling liner, sport steering wheel, and ambient lighting.
The 2011 ZDX comes with a host of standard safety features, including side-impact and side curtain airbags, antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, and active front head restraints. Available with the Advance Package is a Collision Mitigation Braking System, which uses the adaptive cruise control’s radar to watch the road ahead and warn the driver of a pending collision.
The 2011 Acura ZDX successfully combines SUV, sedan, and coupe elements into a stylish and luxurious package that turns head wherever it goes.
