2011 Acura TSX Overview
If you thought Germany was the place to look for a luxurious, sporty sedan, the 2011 Acura TSX is ready to shatter your perception. The 2011 TSX returns two years after its redesign with a brand new Sport Wagon variant and is ready to challenge all comers.
Under the hood, you get a couple of different engine choices on the 2011 TSX. First up is a 201-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder which is mated to a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. For added power, a 280-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 is available that puts out 254 pounds-feet of torque. The V6 is only available with the five-speed automatic, and all automatic transmission equipped TSX’s come with paddle shifters. Efficiency numbers have improved slightly for 2011, and you can expect the TSX to get 18-21 mpg in the city and 27-30 mpg on the highway depending on choice of engine. If you opt for the all-new Sport Wagon, it is only available with the four-cylinder engine and the automatic transmission.
2011 also brings revised exterior styling to the TSX. It still carries the hawk-ish front end that Acura has had in place for a few years now, but gets a new grille, refreshed bumpers, a new fog light treatment, and new taillights out back. The TSX Sport Wagon eschews the “sedan crossover” look of cars like the Honda Accord Crosstour for a more classic wagon appearance, and is slightly longer and taller than its sedan counterpart. The TSX rides on 17-inch alloy wheels (18-inch wheels come with the V6), and xenon headlights and mirror-integrated turn signals come standard.
Inside the 2011 TSX you’ll find seating for five passengers in a high-quality interior space. Added features for 2011 include rear air conditioning vents to help keep rear passengers comfortable on hot days and additional insulation which lowers cabin noise even more. Standard features include power and heated front seats, leather, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth® connectivity, and USB/iPod integration. The optional navigation system has been updated, with a new screen and expanded map coverage, and still provides useful information like traffic and weather updates.
Safety features on the 2011 TSX include antilock brakes, front, side-impact, and side curtain airbags, an electronic stability system, and active head restraints for the front seats. These features are all standard on any TSX.
Now available in sedan and wagon forms, the 2011 Acura TSX is a stylish and refined answer to the best Germany has to offer.
