2011 Toyota Avalon Overview
With a crisp, restyled front fascia and improved interior design, the 2011 Toyota Avalon full-size sedan is better than ever.
The most glaring change from last year’s model has to be the wider, more pronounced grille that flows into the all-new sleek headlights. You’ll also notice a larger air dam below the bumper, while the taillights receive LED light pipes and the side mirrors gain turn-signal indicators. The Avalon is now offered in two trims (base and Limited), opposed to last year’s XL, XLS and Limited models.
Powering the 2011 Avalon is a 3.5-liter, 268-horsepower V-6, which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel estimates are up from last year to 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The Avalon competes with other full-size sedans such as the Hyundai Azera, Chevrolet Impala and Ford Taurus.
Once you get behind the wheel of the 2011 Toyota Avalon, you’ll notice the revised dashboard and controls. The tachometer is divided and more pronounced, while the navigation screen in the center console is no longer hidden by a hinged cover. Speaking of the optional navigation system, the display, as well as the gauges have all been revised and provide a sleeker look. Because the Avalon is only available in two trims, the base provides several impressive features as standard equipment. USB/iPod compatibility, leather upholstery, reclining rear seats, 8-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control and a power tilt/slide moonroof are all part of the base package. The Limited trim offers more than a touch of class with a 12-speaker JBL stereo, XM Radio, heated/ventilated seats, power rear sunshade and push-button start.
Toyota’s Star Safety System includes vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. Seven airbags are standard and include driver and front passenger airbags, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags and driver’s knee airbag. An optional backup camera is integrated into the voice-activated touch-screen DVD navigation system and also appears in the auto-dimming rearview mirror.
It’s not the flashiest sedan out there, but the 2011 Toyota Avalon provides simple luxury features, nice fuel economy and a refined interior and exterior making it a force to be reckoned with within its segment.

I was thrilled to own the 03 XLS, but the 11 Avalon takes the cake An entirely new product this year with more bells an whistles. Fortunately, it comes with several manuals to help you operate. The extra 400 lbs of weight helps to insure your comfort on the open road without killing you at the gas pump.

Best car in its class

The 2011 Avalon Limited is simply put a gem in the touring class of autos. This car rides like a feather out on the open highway and is very quite and easy to drive. I test drove both the lexus 350 and 460 models and neither oftered a better ride than the Avalon. In fact if you buy the Lexus 350 you are throwing your money away in comparison to the features and over all performance the two cars offer.
The car lacks a little tight road handling if you want to drive 60 plus mph down a old country road. If you are in the market for a big roomy luxury sedan that is quiet, smooth and comfortable to drive than you must test drive the 2011 Avalon. Believe me you will not be disappointed especially in the pocket book after saving a ton of dollars as compared to comparable cars.
