2009 Nissan Maxima Overview
Along with the physical changes, the Maxima have also changed the trim levels. The SE and SEL give way to the 3.5 S and 3.5 SV. The reason for the new trim names is the new 3.5-liter, 290-horsepower V-6 engine, which is mated to an Xtronic CVT™ (Continuously Variable Transmission) that automatically selects the optimum gear ratios for best performance. The Maxima boasts more power than the Toyota Avalon and Ford Taurus. Considering how powerful the engine is, the Maxima gets a respectable 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway—both estimates are on par with the competition. Not only did the exterior gain a few new touches, but the steering wheel is smaller for better handling and the instrument cluster and center console prove to be a highly functional and stylish cockpit. The 3.5 S comes with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, power sliding moonroof, Nissan Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, auxiliary audio input jack, Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Control and power front seats. The 3.5 SV trim exudes refinement with leather-appointed seats, outside mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, Bose® audio system, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, digital compass, driver’s seat adjustable thigh support extension and power lumbar support. If you want to maximize your driving experience, you can add 19-inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, rear spoiler, paddle shifters, HID Xenon headlights and interior metallic-link trim with the Sport Package. If luxury is what you seek, then you’ll appreciate a dual panel moonroof, 7-inch color display with RearView Monitor, Interface System for iPod® and eucalyptus wood-tone trim in the Premium Package. When it comes to safety, the Maxima has you covered. A standard 4-wheel anti-lock braking system with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist, providing short stopping distances and excellent control. Dual front air bags, front side impact airbags, and roof-mounted side curtain airbags protect passengers in the event of a collision. Vehicle Dynamic Control with traction control come standard and provides excellent on-road handling and minimal wheel spin during evasive maneuvers. Speed, luxury and handling are just some of the attractive features with the newly redesigned 2009 Nissan Maxima. |
