2009 Dodge Durango Overview
Featuring best-in-class cargo room and eight-passenger seating, the 2009 Dodge Durango offers extreme power, cutting-edge infotainment options and a fuel efficient hybrid version.
The Durango is available in four trim lines – SXT, SLT, Adventurer, and Limited – with a variety of powerful engines. A standard 3.7-liter, 210-horsepower Magnum® V-6 engine generates 235 pounds-feet of torque. The new, available 4.7-liter, 303-horsepower Flex-Fuel V-8 engine boasts the option of using E85 fuel – a blend of ethanol and gasoline. The robust 5.7-liter, 356-horsepower HEMI® V-8 engine features the Multiple-Displacement System, which deactivates up to four cylinders at cruising speeds to maximize fuel savings. With this engine, the Durango can tow up to 8,950 pounds – the most in its class.
The Durango receives 12-14 mpg in the city and 18-20 mpg on the highway and competes with the Chevrolet Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia and Ford Expedition.
Take your family on road trips with three rows of seats for up to eight passengers. Or fold the seats and pack your gear into 102 cubic feet of cargo space. That translates to best-in-class interior room and best-in-class cargo room. Just because your engine is cutting-edge doesn’t mean that the rest of the Durango Hybrid isn’t. The Durango boasts the incredibly versatile UConnect® system that can fulfill your digital dreams through a 6.5-inch touch screen. Turn your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect laptops, phones, PSPs, PDAs and play online games, surf the internet and download music. The 30 GB hard drive lets you upload and store up to 6,700 songs, tons of photos and play your iPod/MP3 player through the sound system. Include Sirius Satellite Radio, turn-by-turn navigation and Bluetooth connectivity and you’ve just turned your car into the ultimate entertainment center. Two Alpine® Premium Sound Systems with eight speakers are optional depending on how loud you like it. Back seat passengers will enjoy the available Rear Seat Video™ system, with an 8-inch flip-down color screen, a DVD player, and two wireless headsets for the ultimate entertainment experience.
Two available All-Wheel Drive systems – single and two-speed – provide amazing control and handling in a variety of weather and road conditions. The available Electronic Stability Program is designed to assist drivers in maintaining control during extreme evasive maneuvers. The available Trailer Sway Control System helps to counteract trailer sway by reducing engine torque and increasing brake force. New, inset fog lamps provide enhanced visibility and a more dominating appearance. Roll-sensing side curtain airbags and all-disc antilock brakes are standard, while rear park assist and backup camera are optional.
The big, powerful, technologically advanced 2009 Dodge Durango does everything well and is a force to be reckoned with in the full-size SUV segment.
