2009 Cadillac XLR Overview
Offering supreme open-air thrills, driving confidence, and razor-sharp styling, the 2009 Cadillac XLR two-seat roadster is the perfect grand touring machine.

Sometimes, less is more.  With that in mind, the 2009 XLR is only available in the Platinum and XLR-V models.  Both receive a sleeker, more modern front and rear end with new fender vents and specific grilles for each model.  With a powerful 4.6-liter, 320-horsepower Northstar V-8 engine, the XLR offers superb acceleration numbers and excellent handling with a rear-wheel drive configuration for optimal handling on dry pavement. The standard six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive features Driver Shift Control with manual shifting ability for more rapid gear changes.  The XLR receives 15 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway and competes with the Jaguar XK and the BMW 6 Series.

A near 50/50 weight distribution ensures optimally balanced handling and responsiveness. Standard Magnasteer steering offers a nicely boosted steering feel that responds to vehicle speed and driver input. Helping to achieve the balance between road feel and comfort is Magnetic Ride Control, which features adjustable, computer-controlled shock absorbers.

The power retractable hardtop opens in less than 30 seconds with the touch of a button, while the power trunk system operates with one-button functionality as well. Stylish 18-inch seven-spoke aluminum alloy wheels and run-flat tires make a fancy and functional combination – the latter of which can travel up to 100 miles after being punctured. Along with ultra-bright Xenon High-Intensity Discharge Headlamps, standard Adaptive Forward Lighting automatically adjusts headlamp direction while turning for improved nighttime illumination. Adaptive Cruise Control is standard, using programmable radar to keep a set distance from the car in front of you. The standard audio/navigation system include a 6.5-inch LCD touch-screen, Bose® Sound System with nine speakers, DVD navigation and movies, voice recognition technology, and detailed maps for the perfect road trip assistant.

Safety features include standard all-speed Traction Control with integrated four-wheel disc brakes with ABS to minimize wheelspin on slippery surfaces and provide excellent stopping power. Standard StabiliTrak stability control keeps the roadster stable during quick emergency maneuvers. Dual front airbags and seat-mounted side impact airbags protect driver and passenger in a collision.

A luxury roadster with few peers, the 2009 Cadillac XLR is a finely-sculpted machine that offers a wealth of tactile pleasures.
